Always Been There | Reebok Legacy

Women are redefining themselves, owning what is important to them, challenging the barriers that have existed for centuries and putting equality at the centre stage. Always Been There is a film that intends to speak for future women, taking the everyday truths that women currently in 21st Century are living by, taking ownership and striving to do more. The film responds to the brief from Reebok Write Your Legacy.

The monologue pieces together my own thoughts and feelings, with a combination of several other women's who I interviewed about their own experiences. Visual representations were inspired by the Dutch exotic dancer Mata Hari. I was drawn to Hari's life story, as it was a turbulent one, full of loss, domestic abuse and historical circumstances, which contributed to the historical slut-shaming of Mata Hari. I thought to myself that if Hari was alive today, the picture would have been painted entirely differently.

The film was made on the Production Content Programme at Create Jobs, London.
